Missionary Educational Society

Missionary Educational Society was established by teachers, students and other philanthropists of Amritsar in 1991. They were inspired by the lofty ideals of the spiritual souls. They planned to serve the humanity in the field of education, for those who lack economic resources and for those who lack career guidance. They extend help to the students on all academic fronts. The members of the Missionary Educational Society are from various fields/professions which contribute for the noble cause in the holy city Amritsar.

The Society, inter-alia, aims at:

  • Eliminating illiteracy by opening adult education centres in different areas to achieve 100% literacy in Punjab.
  • Providing free of cost career guidance to the students for further studies in India and abroad.
  • Helping poor students by books, journals, newspapers and scholarships.
  • Helping and encouraging the students in any difficulty on the academic front;
  • Opening educational institutions to provide affordable and quality education to the weaker sections of the society.

Achievements of MES since 1991

Free Education

MES Public School (NCLP) provided 100% free education to the children of labour class from April2005 to March2020 under the National Child Labour Project (NCLP) of Union Labour Ministry.

Career Guidance

Career counselling is one of the primary objectives of the Missionary Educational Society. The Society has released two books on career guidance so far.

Adult Education

Five adult education centres were successfully run by MES in different areas of Amritsar. A Punjab level seminar on adult education was organised in the senate hall of Guru Nanak Dev University.

Scholarships

More than rupees ten lakhs have been distributed in the form of scholarships to the needy students of govt. schools, private schools and colleges.

Competitions

In order to inculcate the competitive ability and motivate the students painting competition, declamation contest and quiz competitions are organised every year involving various schools, colleges, universities and other institutions
